PRO DIVE's  PADI Openwater Course

Duration: 3 Days

No Ocean Dives: 4  Dives

When you join a PRO DIVE Openwater Scuba Diving Course you will be trained to dive to a depth of 18 meters and your Diver Certification is recognised world wide.

Here are the minimum requirements to join this beginner scuba diving course.
 

  • You will be required to undertake a simple medical examination - not included
     
  • You need to be able to swim 200 meters without swim aids or swim 300 meters with mask, fins and snorkel
  • You will need to be 12 yrs and over. Students 12 - 14yrs are trained to scuba dive to a depth of 15 meters and receive  Junior Openwater Scuba Diver qualification.
  • All students under the age of 18yrs are required to provide written consent from a parent or guardian.

BASIC CERTIFICATION: 4 Dive Course
This course is completed in 3 days either part time or full time. Each day is made up of combination of practical and classroom sessions. Once finished you have completed the minimum training required to become a Worldwide Certified  Openwater Scuba Diver and have undertaken 4 ocean shore dives.

Before the first day of your course you will be required to complete home study. We ask that you contact the Pro Dive Manly or City to organise pick up the Openwater Manual and loan DVD and to attend a pre-course orientation.

 

What else you need to know

  • You will need to complete and pass the Australian Standards Dive Medical A.S.4005.1 prior to the commencement of the course. Some Medical conditions can preclude you from diving and they include asthma, diabetis, high blood pressure, epilepsy and other chronic conditions.
     
  • All snorkel and scuba equipment will be provided
     
  • You need to bring sunscreen, swimmers and a towel
  • You will need to be able to swim 200 metres and tread water for 10 minutes
  • The minimum age is 12yrs and students under 18yrs of age will be required to provide signed parent or guardian consent.  Children 12 - 14yrs will attain Junior Openwater Diver Certification.
  • Before the Openwater course commences you will need to come into our Dive Centre  for a pre-course orientation  and to pick up your PADI Manual and loan DVD (refundable deposit held). You will need to make an appointment please allow 20 to 30 minutes.
  • You will be required to read all the chapters  in the manual, complete the knowledge review and quizzes at the end of each chapter as well as watch the DVD.  The DVD should be returned on the first day of the course and you will get back your deposit.

    Exclusions
     

  • Dive medical in accordance with Australian Standard, A.S 4005-1 (1992)
  • Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. For example: heart disease asthma, epilepsy or diabetes. If you are unsure of a particular medical condition, please check with us prior to reservation. Australian medical standards are different to those overseas. A medical obtained in another country will most likely NOT be valid in Australia.
  • The minimum age to start this course is 12 yrs. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult over the age of 18. Children between 12 - 14 years of age will qualify as Junior Open Water Divers.  They will be trained to dive to a depth of 12 metres and as a certified divers, their dive buddy must be a minimum certification level of Divemaster or their parent/guardian.
  • 2 passport photos 
     
  • Please note:
    Mask, fins and snorkel are included in the gear hire but is strongly recommended that you have your own snorkelling gear.  If you decide to make this purchase, it is recommended that you speak with your professional Dive Instructor before doing so.
